ASK THE MANAGER

MARK JOY

The attitude towards ensuring that respect is at the core of the club along with helping all children achieve, on top of helping develop further coaches (young & old) and referees.
A match last October against Invicta Allstars, where very early on the weather started to downpour and all the boys worked there socks off combating the weather along with the opponents to grind out a 1-0 win.
Watching a team of boys that normally just make up the numbers along with a number of new players to the club develop into a team.
Heading out to training, to help develop this team further.
I had done this before and swore that I would never manage a youth team again, however so pleased that I did not follow through, as this bunch have such an infectious attitude and are so pleasing to coach and manage.
Looking to see how the existing and new players perform this season in competitive matches, knowing that if they all perform to their levels that they will surprise many teams this season.
Frank Lampard (junior) due to his utter devotion to his career, knowing that even when he was at the top he had to continue to work hard.
Not really an idol, but a number of heroes from the football world. One of these was Stuart Pearce, who started from humble beginnings and reached the pinnacle for any player, captaining his country.
Continue to develop and push on year on year.
At my age I don’t really have aspirations for myself, but apire to help my son follow in my footsteps (if he still wants to when old enough) to qualify as a referee.
No real talents, just a person of many roles.
