My name is Ant Boakes and I am lead coach of Medway Town FC Girl’s Development Centre (GDC), offering free football coaching to girls every Saturday morning.
Our GDC sessions welcome girls aged 6 to 14, giving them the opportunity to take their first steps into football, and to join teams within the club’s girl’s section Medway Town Pinx. We started the GDC in August this year, and the response has been incredible. It’s fantastic to see so many girls wanting to play football.

 
I also assistant manager for our senior girl’s Under-14’s Pinx team some of whom give their time to coaching our youngest age groups.

 
The GDC is split into various sections, all of which have their own lead coach. We have U6-U8, U9, U10 Intermediate, U10 advanced, U11, and U12-U14.
Since we started, we have already created a new U10s Pinx team, added various girls into existing Pinx teams, and hope to have a new U8s Pinx team by January, all with players that have come through the GDC.

The rise of girl’s football has been rapid, alongside the success of the Lionesses, and our intent is to offer a first step, and a pathway, to allow girls to see football as a viable route to sporting success and enjoyment.
The Girl’s Development Centre is showing Medway Town FC as a community club with a strong emphasis on girl’s football with our intent to continue to be one of the leading girl’s football clubs in Kent.

 
Alongside the aims of our Medway Town FC Kickers we focus on 3 areas which is intended to create a positive environment in which girls can thrive.

We believe the girls should always try their hardest and give 100% to everything they do. They should always play with a smile on their face and enjoy the experience of being part of a team. We should focus on their development to ensure they are successful, whether that success be individual against personal goals, or as a team.
