ASK THE MANAGER

Greg Warran

We have a core of really great people who are fully focused on growing the girl’s game. Lots of coaches giving up their time on a Saturday morning for the girl’s development centre which doesn’t involve coaching their own team and seeing some of our U14 girls coaching the next generation coming through.
We lost 2-1 against Petts Wood at home. The girl’s left everything on the pitch, and were undone by a last minute incorrect penalty decision. Was so proud of their effort that day.
Watching the U14s and U10s win 9 tournaments between them this summer.
Girl’s Development Centre every Saturday seeing new girls starting their footballing journey.
I thought I’d have a son and coach a boy’s team. I didn’t anticipate being involved in girl’s football at all.
Looking forward to seeing the U14s continued progression. No particular game.
Not really an idol, but my favourite player was Shaun Bartlett. That guy knew how to hold the ball up, and help relieve pressure and get a team up the pitch plus he won the premier league goal of the season one year.
I want the girls to have fun, give 100%, keep developing, and be the best versions of themselves they can be. Success is individual as well as for the team. Success doesn’t have to be winning games. It’s about setting personal targets and working hard to reach them, as well as succeeding as a team.
That my players look back when they’re older, with positive memories and with a positive view of how I contributed to them as footballers and as people.
I used to be a DJ, photographer and music promoter in a previous life! Not sure I’m any good at any of them anymore!
